CalculusConfidence

The AP exams are changing in May 2027 — new question counts, new timing, and a faster no-calculator pace. This year's students are the first affected. See what changed

The school year is the training ground. May is the exam.

CalculusConfidence pairs AP Precalculus and AP Calculus students with Professor Alan for structured weekly group sessions that stay a step ahead of the school's pacing all year — so the ten weeks before the AP Exam are spent sharpening, not catching up.

Results calls are for parents and students together — please plan to attend as a pair.

One strategy, stretched across the whole year

Diagnose. Fortify. Conquer.

Families who joined a summer boot camp saw this cycle compressed into two weeks. The school-year program is the full campaign: the same three phases, run at the pace of a real school year, aimed at one date in May.

August – September, and at every checkpoint

Diagnose

We start by finding out exactly where your student stands — against the College Board framework, not just the class average. Checkpoint diagnostics through the year keep the picture current as the course moves.

September – February

Fortify

Weekly sessions learn material ahead of the school's schedule, support current classwork, and layer in AP-style practice — so the core AP Precalculus curriculum is finished by late February.

Late February – May

Conquer

With content complete, roughly ten weeks remain for full-length practice exams, free-response technique, timing drills, and exam-day strategy — under the new 2027 format.

The Fortify engine

Three sessions a week, each with a job

Fortify isn't a vague promise of "support." It's a fixed weekly structure, tuned to each student's school syllabus and textbook.

Learn Ahead Session 1
New material is taught before — or as — the school introduces it, so class becomes the second exposure instead of the first.
School Support + AP Practice Sessions 2 & 3
Current homework and test prep, paired with original AP-style problems — always built as parallels to assigned work, never copies of it. Every group session ends with a Grizzly Bear: one deliberately tough synthesis problem we wrestle down together.
Office Hours Optional
An open door for the week's stray questions, before they compound.

Free, and honest

Where does your student stand right now?

The summer diagnostic told us whether a student was ready for the year. The school-year diagnostics answer a different question: is your student on pace for May? Each one is scored against the College Board framework and reviewed with you on a results call — including the parts that aren't flattering. That's the point of a diagnostic.

Available now

Fall Check-In

Polynomial and rational functions — the Unit 1 territory most classes are working through this semester, plus the foundations it rests on.

Opens in December

Midyear Check

Exponential and logarithmic functions, timed to semester finals — with a retention slice from the fall so growth is measured, not guessed.

Opens in March

AP Readiness Check

Built to the May 2027 exam's actual pacing, including the faster no-calculator section — a true rehearsal, not a worksheet.

The member training ground

Full-length practice AP Exams

Generated from a professor-audited question bank in unlimited versions, built to the new May 2027 format and timing. Multiple choice is graded instantly; every free response is handwritten — just like the real hybrid exam — and hand-scored by Professor Alan with rubric feedback.

Topic drops through the year

A steady drip of original multiple-choice and free-response practice, released in step with the program's master schedule — so students are always practicing the topic that matters this week, before it's tested.

The gap-topic video library New this year

Short, focused lessons on the topics many school courses skip but the AP Exam doesn't: sequences, semi-log plots, polar functions, and the symbolic manipulations behind Free-Response Question 4.

Score projector

Enter multiple-choice and free-response results from any practice exam and see a projected AP score — calibrated to the new 2027 composite, not last year's.

All practice problems are original parallels written for this program. Students practice honestly, on our materials, before their school's assessment windows open — never around them.

From the College Board

The May 2027 exams are different. We've already adapted.

The College Board has updated both exams effective May 2027 — new question counts, new section timing, and updated free-response questions on the Precalculus exam. Course content hasn't changed, but pacing has, and pacing is trainable. Every timed practice in this program already uses the new clock. Both exams remain hybrid digital: multiple choice in the Bluebook app (with its built-in Desmos calculator where permitted), free responses handwritten in a paper booklet.

AP Precalculus · May 11, 2027

Multiple choice42 questions in 1 hr 45 min — 29 no-calculator in 65 minutes, then 13 with a graphing calculator in 40 minutes
Free response4 questions in 1 hr 10 min — Function Concepts, Modeling a Non-Periodic Context, Modeling a Periodic Context, Symbolic Manipulations
What it meansThe no-calculator pace is faster than before. Fluency drills matter more than ever.

AP Calculus — AB & BC · May 10, 2027

Multiple choice42 questions in 1 hr 40 min — 29 no-calculator in 62 minutes, then 13 with a graphing calculator in 38 minutes
Free response6 questions in 1 hr 30 min — two with a calculator, four without
AB vs. BCBoth exams share this exact format and timing. BC covers everything in AB plus series, parametric, and polar topics.
What it meansNo formula sheet is provided. Key results must be automatic, and we make them automatic.

Ask your student's teacher whether class practice tests use the new timing. If the answer is a pause — let's talk.

The next step

Start with a diagnostic. Decide on the data.

Take the free Fall Check-In, then book a results call. We'll walk through the scores together — student and parent both on the call — and you'll know exactly where things stand and what the year should look like. No spin either way.
